What We Believe About Prayer
In the Name of Jesus
Jesus is the one and only mediator of our prayers. We pray at His command. This is the reason we pray in the name of Jesus and why eliminating the name of Jesus from our prayers is a significant theological issue.
What is The Jesus Prayer?
The Jesus Prayer is widely used by Christians around the world and dates back to the fifth century writings of St. Diadochos. It reads:
"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner."
Meaning of The Jesus Prayer Words
Each word of The Jesus Prayer has a specific meaning. From 2 Chronicles 7:14,
"If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

More About Prayer
- Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble; it is a "steering wheel" that directs us in the right path throughout life.
- Prayer is how we as Disciples of Jesus Christ communicate to our Heavenly Father. He has communicates to us from His Holy Word.
- The greatest Prayer of course is the one Jesus our King Himself gave us which we use weekly and is known as the "Lord's Prayer" or the "Our Father."
